The Operator Portfolio has been
enhanced to support more control over which territory team members can update
an Operator Profile. With this new
change the default is to allow only the Customer Manager or anyone in the
Customer Manager chain (i.e. primary manager of the territory, parent
territory, etc...) to edit and view the restricted notes and files associated
with Operator Profile. To allow other
members of the Territory Team (typically piers to the Customer Manager) to edit
and view restricted information they must be given explicit permission to do so
by granting the them the "Operator Profile Editing" permission via
secure area. The permissions that have
been granted to a user can be seen on the groups page of their staff record in
the FSLibrary.

The initial impact of this change to
our existing customer will be negligible as all of our users in a Customer
Manager for an Operator had to have been given this permission to edit their
Operator Profiles. Going forward it is
recommended that this permission not be given to all Customer Managers for
Operator unless they need to be able to edit accounts that do not belong to
them.
Also at this time another change was
made to allow for better control over the Classifcation field on an Operator
Profile. The Classification field is an
important field in the overall makup of an Operator Portfolio in that it plays
a part in describing the the "value" of an Operator Profile to the
client in the same way that the Focus Account field does. As such this field has been moved to the
Account Management Section of the Operator Profile and access to this is
tightly controlled as is Focus Account.

The ability to change this field and
other fields within the Account Management section of the Operator Profile is
controlled via the "Operator Profile Account Management Field Access"
permission. This was the permission
that was used to control the ability to change just the Focus Account status
but has been renamed to better align with it's purpose.

This change will impact all users in
that before this change anyone that could edit an Operator Profile could change
the value of classification. With this
change in place, only the users that were previously able to change the Focus
Account status will be able to change Classification.
In addition to allow the user to
change Classification and Focus Account status, the "Operator Profile
Account Management Field Access" permission also allows the user to Edit
the profile if they didn't have this ability from another permission or via the
Customer Management chain and they can change the the assignment fields as well
(within their territory span of visibility).
Also not that the definition of each
permission is displayed at the bottom of the groups tab in the staff/contacts
directories in the library to help us better understand the permissions.
This is a very significant change to
our platform and as such I expect that there will be some secondary changes
that follow as we better understand it's implications on the user base. Please let me know if you have any
questions or run into any problems.
Cheers,
Michael
